On the outskirts of Kabul, over 4000 prisoners live amassed in dirty, crumbling and overcrowded buildings, lacking even the most basic services. Here the commoner and the political prisoner may languish for years at the mercy of a still highly precarious judiciary system. Pul-i-charki is Afghanistan's biggest detention centre. Weast gained an exclusive insider's look at what is called the Afghan Guantanamo where Emergency, an Italian NGO, struggles daily to guarantee health care to the inmates.
