Abdallah was born with a serious hearth condition. In isolated Gaza, this
compares to walking the thin line between life and death. Abdallah was
about to die, but just a day after Weast Productions reported his story,
the baby was allowed into Israel to undergo a life-saving operation in
East Jerusalem's Palestinian hospital. Countless similar cases are taken
to Wolfson Hospital, where Save a Child's Heart operates and covers all
the health-related expenses. In 15 years, this Israeli humanitarian
organisation visisted and tended to over 1200 Palestinian kids. Against
all odds, and despite political and military constraints, Abdallah has won
his battle for life. Yet his case aptly symbolises the great hurdles faced
by families in Gaza whose kids are in urgent need of therapies in Israel,
but who are often banned to leave the Strip to be with them. Gianluca
Grossi reports (broadcast by Swiss National TV, Italian-language channel
RSI) |
